Wanju Region Introduction
Cities such as Jeonju, Iksan, and Daejeon are developing around Wanju. It is surrounded by many mountains and there is excellent scenery as well as historical ruins. Due to this, many tourists are visiting the area. From recreation for urban residents, to amusement parks, to rest stops, Wanju is surely a place to go.
Samrye Culture and Arts Village
Samrye Culture and Arts Village, located in the upper stream of Mangyeong River, is a part of the Mangyeong Plain where the land is fertile and the climate is mild. It was the center of the exploitation of grain along with Gunsan, Iksan, and Gimje during the Japanese colonial period. The Samrye Grain Warehouse, which was at the center of grain exploitation, is presumed to be the warehouse of Lee Yeopsa Farm, established in 1926 by a Japanese landlord Shi-ra-sei. The warehouse is also known for serving as a vanguard for exploitation along with Jeonbuk Farm, Chosun Farm, and Gongchuk Farm, which are colonial agricultural companies in Wanju. In Samrye Culture and Arts Village, Momo Museum of Art, Digital Experience Center, Small Theater Annie, Experience Spaces Munch, Culture Cafe Ttre, Kim Sang-lim Woodwork, and Book Workshop are located in the center of Eoul Madang.

Mt. Daedun Provincial Park
Mt. Daedun, which is beautiful during all four seasons, is the pride and treasure of Wanju. Granite bedrock is exposed everywhere, and forms strange rock formations and dense forests. These areas are piled up, and has been called Mt. Geumgang in Honam since ancient times. In particular, the Geumgang pedestrian overpass, located near the summit, is a spot that should not be missed as it is said to be the highlight of Mt. Daedun. If you cross the Geumgang pedestrian overpass, you will come to Yaksujeong, and have to take the three-line rope bridge to go to Wanggwan Rock. Mt. Daedun, boasting its spectacular scenery with its painting-like landscapes of each peak, is fascinating, as you can see the harmony of the gods such as Nakjodae, Taegosa, Geumgang Falls, Dongsim Rock, Geumgang Valley, Samseon Spring Site and Okgyedong Valley.

The Dae-a Natural Recreation Forest in the suburbs of Jeonju combines Mt. Noryeong, Mt. Unam, and Dae-a Lakeshore to create a beautiful landscape. Anyone can enjoy the forest scenery on the 6.3km hiking trail that connects Jangae and Jungsugol from Wangjae, and the view overlooking the Daeah Reservoir in the south is spectacular at the summit of Jungsugol. Water flowing from Jungsugol and Wangjae merge with the water of Euncheolgol and flow into the Dae-a Reservoir. During sunrise, the view overlooking the Dae-a Reservoir in the lower south is spectacular. The Landscape Garden, located in the middle of the Dae-a Arboretum, has beautiful scenery that changes throughout the four seasons, so it is the most popular place for visitors to go. Additionally, coniferous trees such as pine, juniper, Pinus parviflora and broad-leaved trees such as quiver, maple, trumpet creeper and Korean winter hazel, as well as various zippy plants, sculptures such as pagora and swings are harmonized together to be widely used as a space for nature learning and place of rest.

Tourist Course Introduction (two days trip)
Daea Arboretum opened in 1995 as the part of Sobaek Mountains Unjangsan Mountain branch. Running to the east along national route 732, clear and quiet Daeaho lake spreads out and there is Daea Arboretum in the eastern deep valley edge of the Daeaho. Daea Arboretum region is the one of 8 backwoods in the nation where the slashing and burning field cultivations were stopped in the early 70's. Because it is geographically difficult to access, various kinds of plants are preserved as it is without artificial damage. With oak trees as the center, the arboretum is composed of natural forest with arbor including dogwood, lindera erythrocarpa makino, Painted Maple, Cone-fruit platycarya, Retusa fringetree, etc. and shrub including Bumald's bladdernut, lespedeza, Winged spindle, Korean weigela, brier, greenbrier, etc. and various herbaceious plants are growing naturally.
When turn left in Wibongsanseong fortress, there is a small temple Wibongsa on the peak of Chuchulsan, Daeheung-ri, Soyang-myeon. Wibongsa temple is told to be founded by Great Master Seoam in 604(5th year of King Mu), but there is no exact evidence. The legendary tale is just in Geukrakjeonjungsugi(極樂殿重修記). It is a branch temple of a head office Geumsansa(金山寺). In 1359(8th year of Goryeo King Gongmin), Naonghwasang rebuilt. When Choi Yonggak(崔龍角) traveled to mountains and streams in the country riding a horse in the end of Shilla, it reached at the south of Bongsan(鳳山). It grabbed a wisteria vine and climbed the top of the mountain. There were three Bonghwang in the forest on the top of the mountain. It built a temple and named the temple after Bonghwang. It was called Wibongsa(圍鳳寺).
The height of Wibongpokpo located in the east gate of Wibongsanseong Fortress is 60m, and the cool water stream pouring by 2 stepped from the sheer height is famous for a wonderful sight as one of Wansan 8 famous spots. The sound and looks pouring 60m waterfall present a grand sight like washing the heart freely. The fantastic rocks around waterfall and the dense forest form the excellent landscape.
Representative Food Introduction
“The heart of a sweet flower that spreads all over the body” If you go to Hwasim, Soyang-myeon, Wanju-gun, you can taste proper and authentic Sundubu Jjigae (soft tofu soup). Since the name of the village is ‘Hwa(flower) sim(heart)’, we prepare Soft Tofu Baekban with the ‘heart of flowers’. Hwasim's Soft Tofu Stew is flavored by adding plenty of seasoned pork and clams to the soft tofu. The soft tofu soup smells sweet and spicy. Spicy chili oil is added to the plump and sweet taste of the clams, so it is perfect for drinkers.Go to Related Restaurants
