Iksan Region Introduction
Iksan is a great historical and cultural city, a mecca of the Korean food industry, and an amazing city that will become the food capital of Asia. Iksan is a historically and culturally amazing city with the ruins of Wanggung-ri which is the Cheondo site of King Mu of Baekje, the Wanggungri Five-story Stone Pagoda(National Treasure No. 289), the Mireuksa Temple Site(National Treasure No. 11) and another 505 national treasure-class relics. It was also confirmed as a national food cluster business site in 2008 and will be reborn as a Korean food valley and the world's largest food industry advancement base.
Since ancient times, Iksan has been famous for jewelry. The Jewelry Museum was established to take advantage of the regional characteristics of Iksan. It was built in the Royal Palace Jewelry Theme Tourist Site to utilize the beauty of Baekje’s cultural relics and jewelry as a tourism resource. In addition, the Fossil Exhibition Hall, where you can see the history of the geological period at a glance, displays various fossils, pterosaurs, and life-sized skeletal dinosaurs, so youths can unfold a world of imagination. The Jewelry Museum provides an experience program for precious metal jewelry to visitors on the weekends. In this program, you can make silver accessories using the cloisonne craft technique, such as slicing jewels and making your own jewelry (for example, a silver ring).

Iksan Modern History Museum
The Iksan Modern History Museum relocated and opened the Samsan Clinic (Registered Cultural Property No. 180) in Iksan Jungang-dong. Samsan Clinic, built-in 1922, is a building with traces of the early modern period, such as an arched porch and cornice decoration. After liberation in 1945, it was used as the Korea Mujin Company, Korea Heung-up Bank, and Kookmin Bank, and was designated as a registered cultural property in June 2005 in recognition of its historical significance and architectural value.

Wanggung-ri Relic Exhibition Hall
The Wanggung-ri Relics Exhibition Hall was built to display relics excavated during the investigation of the Wanggung-ri Relics and used as a Baekje cultural education site. The Wanggung-ri Relics Exhibition Hall holds 1,800 relics including relics owned by individuals and entrusted to the state, and 270 of them are exhibited to show the life of the royal palace in Baekje. In addition to this, the contents of the “Gwanseum-eum-eunghyupgi”, which recorded the facts of Iksan Cheondo at Baekje Muwang, is made into woodblocks and you can also experience woodblock printing yourself here. You can also experience excavation at a virtual excavation site. To promote and propel their World Heritage registration as a social education program, it offers cultural lectures to the general public and operates a “pre-visit world heritage” for elementary school students and a “trip to find Muwang Road,” where you can walk through the ruins of Baekje Muwang.

Wanggungni Historic Site
Wanggungni Historic Site called Wanggungni holy land was designated as Historic site No. 408 on September 17th in 1998, and the area is 216,862㎡. It is also called 'Wanggungni holy land.' It is the remains which has Mahan·Capital rumor, capital transfer or separate capital story of King Mu of Baekje, Anseung's Bodeokguk story and capital story of Gyeonwon of Hubaekje. Two tile kilns looked like the things in United Silla period were discovered at the place 30m far away from the eastern of stone pagoda.
It is a world-class museum which houses 110,000 things including rare and precious jewels, gemstone, etc. Also, a fossil exhibition hall, which can be seen the history of geological age at a glance, is comprised in order to spread the world of imagination to teenagers displaying each fossil, pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, skeleton dinosaur of natural size, etc. by the times.
The fossil gallery located in the jewelry museum can be seen the history of the geographical age at a glance. It displays the periodical fossil, the natural size of skeleton dinosaur pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, etc. and is a cultural space the spectators can experience directly.
It was built as a two-floor building and a basement. The building looks like beautiful bijou ring shape in which the front of bijou shines colorfully and is composed of total 80 stores including the first floor and the second floor. In each store displays Europe and Middle East region export company, Iksan jewelry processing complex plant direct management company, domestic popular enterprise and overseas companies of Japan, China, etc. and sell the jewellery work by design of modern sense and skill of the master artisan.
Representative Food Introduction
“An excellent savory taste! ” Iksan Unpo and Sungdang are ports downstream of the Geum River. Woo-eo, which lives in the sea and river there, hibernates in the sea from Summer to Winter and comes up along the river to spawn in the Spring. It goes back up from the downstream end of the river and spawns in reeds in late Spring to early Summer. It is not easy to come and go as in the olden days because the estuary is blocked, but fortunately, there is a fish road so woo-eo is caught in the Geum River.
